The Final Hooter - 11/03/20

The first Final Hooter podcast of 2020 has arrived with Dave Parkinson once again pairing with Adrian Jackson to host.
 
Both talk about Rugby League reaching 125 years old and Dave ventured to the RFL Launch event at Huddersfield where he caught up with John Duffy (Leigh Centurions), Sylvain Houles (Toulouse), Dec O'Donnell (Workington) and Bob Beswick (Newcastle). We also hear from reigning Woman of Steel Courtney Hill as she readies herself for another season with Leeds Rhinos.
 
Our pair talk about the retirees from 2019 and look at the new faces that will grace the Super League in 2020.
 
Steve Manning ventured to the St Helens Media day, there he spoke with Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Lachlan Coote and Kyle Amor.
 
Meanwhile Adrian went to the Warington Media day where he spoke with Steve Price, Joe Philbin and new man Anthony Gelling.

Adrian and Dave get together for the first time in a couple of weeks to look back at the play-offs. The pair discuss the Salford rise, Wigan fall, Toronto winning their way to Super League, disappointment at Toulouse, Oldham joy and Newcastle heartache amongst other things.

We look forward to the Betfred Women's Super League Grand Final and we have an interview with Leeds Rhinos boss Adam Cuthbertson.

Episode 19 of the Final Hooter sees us concentrate on the big result from Wembley.

Adrian Jackson and Steve Manning were hard at work getting interviews for the show while Dave Parkinson watched from home with drinks and munchies and praises the BBC's presentation of the final.

Both Dave and Adrian look back at the 1945-46 season and reflect on the final, Wembley and the joy of winning. Adrian spills the beans on Wembley security protocols and we hear from Iestyn Harris, Steve Price, Steve McNamara, Tony Gigot, Michael McIllorum and Remi Casty.

Daves goes through the fixtures ahead of this weekend and our final word contains an interesting interview that Barrow Raiders boss Paul Crarey gave to Dave a few days ago.

Adrian and Dave return, Adrian battles through with a cold and has his first two rants of the season. Dave gives his opinion of Wigan and Hull playing each other 12000 miles from home.

We hear from Batley Bulldogs boss Matt Diskin following his side's 6-34 reversal at Leigh while Neil Jukes also gives us the Centurion perspective. From Round One we have audio from Richie Myler (Leeds) and Joe Mellor (Widnes) following good opening victories for both teams. 

The lads look at what has happened so far in the Super League and Championship, look forward to week one of the League One season, give reaction to the Challenge Cup draw and enjoy the banter.
